There was a big upset in the Super 12 stage of the ongoing ICCT20 World Cup in Australia, Ireland defeated England by 5 runs under the Duckworth-Louis method.
In the 8th match of the Super 12 stage played in Melbourne, Australia, England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, the Ireland team could not even play the full 20 overs and were all out for 157 runs in 19.2 overs.
Irish captain Andy Balburnie played a responsible batting innings of 62 runs, while other batsmen Lorcan Tucker 34, Curtis Kaempfer 17, Paul Stirling 14 and Gareth Delaney scored 12 runs. For Engand, Mark Wood and Liam Livingston took 3, 3 while Sam Curran took 2 and Ben Stokes took 1 wicket.
Chasing Ireland’s target of 158, England scored 105 for 5 in 14.3 overs, rain interrupted the match and the match was adjourned under the Duckworth-Lewis method. On behalf of England, captain Jos Buttler scored zero, Alex Hales 7 and Ben Stokes 6, David Mullan 35, Harry Brooke got out by scoring 18 runs.
