Emergency Landing Shuts Down Runway
A Beechcraft Super King Air 200 aircraft, operated by Woodgate Aviation, made an emergency landing around 1:40 pm. The aircraft, en route to Belfast International Airport, turned back shortly after take-off due to suspected landing gear failure.
Upon landing, the aircraft collapsed onto its belly on the runway. Emergency services including West Midlands Police, Fire & Rescue, and Ambulance Services rushed to the scene. Three people onboard were treated at the scene, one with minor injuries, officials confirmed.
Images and videos circulated on social media showed the light aircraft lying disabled near the runway, causing widespread concern.

Investigation Underway
The UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has launched an investigation. A team of specialists in aircraft operations and engineering has been deployed to assess the cause of the incident. Initial reports suggest a landing gear malfunction led to the emergency return.
The aircraft, registered G-NIAA, is 44 years old and has previously been used as an air ambulance. It is owned by Bluesky Investments, based in the Isle of Man.
Official Response
UK Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander acknowledged the disruption, stating:
