BJP breaches Kejri-wall in Delhi, returns after 27 years

After a 27-year exile, the BJP is set to storm back to power in Delhi, ‘sweeping’ out the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after a decade-long reign and unseating top leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. With vote counting in the final stages, the BJP has comfortably crossed the half-way mark of 36 seats. The party has won 47 seats and is leading in 1 of the 70 seats up for grabs—a stunning turnaround from its single-digit tally in the 2020 Assembly elections. AAP, which dominated the last two elections with near-sweep victories, won 22 seats. The Congress, failing to secure a single lead, is staring at the unenviable record of drawing a blank for the third time in a row.
