Boosting construction sector: Punjab govt announces special packages

LAHORE: The Punjab government has also announced a special package for the construction sector and introduced a one-window system of construction permits.

According to the details, Chief Minister (CM) Punjab, Usman Buzdar, has said that revolutionary reforms in the construction sector will eliminate corruption and delays.

As per the Prime Minister’s vision, the Punjab government has also announced a special package for the construction sector. CM Punjab said that one window system of permits related to construction sector has been introduced, relevant No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and maps will now be approved by e-service centers.

Usman Buzdar further said that e-service centers would be able to get the necessary permits easily and now the people would not have to go around the offices carrying files. He said that a time frame has been set for the NOC of services related to the construction sector. It will be mandatory to issue NOCs and permits within the stipulated period and approve the construction plan of residential or commercial buildings within 30 days.

He said that NOC for commercialization or land conversion will be provided in 45 days and approval of new housing schemes will be given in 60 days from development authorities and 75 days from TMEs.

The Punjab Chief Minister said that in the past, for these services, one had to visit offices for several months. Revolutionary reforms in the construction sector will eliminate corruption and delays. Usman Buzdar said that e-governance in the province is improving the lifestyle and creating facilities for the people at all levels.

He further said that one window operation has been started in the e-service centers at the divisional headquarters. A total of 78 services can be procured, including 32 services related to the construction sector. Our initiatives for the Ease of Doing Business are a guarantee of economic recovery.

The Punjab Chief Minister said that the province was becoming the most favorite destination for citizens and businessmen. In the second phase, the scope of services will be extended to the district level from the first week of August. This will enable the people in 36 districts to avail these services to facilitate the construction sector.

Usman Buzdar said that the outdated system has been made easier for the convenience of the people through technology. The move will not only save valuable time but also eliminate bribery.
