London, April 26 2021: Initially one of Europe’s worst hit countries, the UK has now successfully inoculated about two thirds of its population and has met its mid April deadline of offering the first to dose to under 50s.
With 34million people now having received an initial shot, officials say they would cover the complete adult population by August. Ethnic minority groups which were harder to target initially have also been serviced with uptake tripling in April from 1.89million to 5.78million.
To this end, the UK government has launched a new campaign from Monday convincing under-50s to get vaccinated against the virus, as it moves on to the second stage of its so far successful jabs drive.
To ensure the continued success of the vaccine drive, public institutes like the Royal Mail public postal system and media outlets will partner with the government to pitch the “every vaccination gives us hope” campaign to the under 50s population. According to the health ministry, media outlets such as TV, radio, social media and billboards would showcase the most massive vaccination effort in British history by featuring health workers and volunteers as well as vaccinated people.
Public sector Royal Mail public postal system, will apply a special postmark to stamped mail between May 5 through 7. This comes as the authorities are lifting restrictions and the government continues to gradually ease months-old lock-down measures.
To date the country has recorded 4.4 million cases and almost 128,000 deaths. However the speedy and organized vaccine campaign is estimated to have saved more than 10,000 lives in the country from December through March. Statistical studies from the Office for National Statistics and Oxford University demonstrate that infections fell by 65% after initial vaccine doses, rising further after the second shot.
