UAE suspends discussions on F35 aircraft deal with US

Nov 18, 2021: A British F-35 jet crashed into the Mediterranean at about 1000 GMT on Wednesday, and the pilot managed to get out safely, according to defense officials.

A British F35 pilot of HMS Queen Elizabeth went out this morning during a routine flight operation in the Mediterranean, the defense ministry said in a statement. They added: “The pilot has been safely returned to the plane and an investigation has been launched, so it would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”

HMS Queen Elizabeth is a British flagship aircraft carrier and is currently returning to the UK from her maiden voyage to the Far East. It has eight British F-35 jets and 10 American F-35s. An F-35 costs about £ 100 million ($ 134.7 million).

A military investigation into the incident in international waters will be launched, with local media reporting that the investigation will focus on technical or human error.
