Wafaq-ul-Madaaris-AlArbiya Pakistan has rejected the budget dispensation of Rupees 5 billion for madrassah reforms, citing that allocating such an amount gives rise to many doubts and speculations.
The leaders of the federation remarked that the allocation of a big amount at a time when education activities are suspended, is surprising. They said that neither were the electricity and gas bills waived for the Madrassahs nor was a portion of the relief fund allocated for their students and teachers, so one is led to wonder the agenda under which such a heavy amount has now been allocated for reforms.
The leaders said that previously also heavy budgets were allocated in the name of reforms and foreing aid also came, and we have all seen the results therefore we will not allow the public to be fooled.
Amongst the Wafaq-ul-Madaaris leaders opposing this dispensation were Maulana Dr AbdurRazzaq Iskander, Maulana Anwar-ul-Haq and Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jalandhri. The leaders made it clear that the religious schools have been run for years without any help from the government and we will jot accept any government budget in the future either.
They said that during the corona virus crisis, the Madrassahs received no help from the government in terms of electricity and gas bill waivers or relief fund allocations for the teachers and students for any field of life, so this allocation is suspect.
