Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz stated that medicines will be made using cannabis, and that he was thankful to Allah that they moved away from misinforming reports. 

In an informal discussion with the reporters, Science and Technology Minister Shibli Faraz announced that the electronic voting machine presented to the Cabinet was an old one, being from 2014.

He further said that the Prime Minister had directed them to build a modern electronic voting machine in 8 to 10 days, adding that NUST and COMSATS were working together to build one. An electronic voting machine will cost Rs 65,000 to Rs 80,000, with a battery lasting 2 days, he said. The Election Commission demanded the battery last 16 hours.

He further said that the machine will use a special paper, working from 10 to 55 degrees. At the moment, he said, 2,000 machines are capable of being manufactured on a daily basis. Within 6 months, 4 lakh electronic voting machines will be manufactured. Cyber tests of electronic voting machines will be conducted, but they cannot be used in Azad Kashmir elections.

Shibli Faraz further said that Prime Minister Imran Khan wants elections to be undisputed, will console the opposition with regard to electronic voting machines.

He went on to say that work is being done on a project to make drugs from cannabis, with the pilot project being worked out near Haripur. It would be inaugurated in August, according to him. Efforts were being made to increase exports, companies from abroad are being encouraged to come here and set up plants, he went on.

According to Baaghi TV, Shibli Faraz announced that he was being made Minister of Petroleum and not Science, thanking Allah for moving out of the Information Ministry. I had grip in the power sector, he said, I could work there. Thankfully, I didn’t become part of the power ministry, science is a serious subject and I am a serious man, he said.

According to Baaghi TV, Shibli Faraz further said that youth should be trained in new technologies. Working, training 500,000 youth in new technologies within two years, training youth in blockchain, 3D printing, chip, training youth and sending them abroad would be beneficial.
