LAHORE: The Chainstore Association of Pakistan (CAP) condemns the Lahore district administration of arrest unvaccinated people from shopping malls as there is no law to arrest anyone who is not vaccinated.
Chairman CAP, Tariq Mehboob Thursday said that the Lahore district administration is intentionally targeting a specific segment while the NCOC has given clear instruction of refusal of services to the unvaccinated people. Factually, the CAP the representative body of the organized sector has been supporting the government in awareness creation, vaccinating its staff, and distributing free masks to the customers since the start of the pandemic. However, the Lahore district administration has issued orders which are not even given by the NCOC.
Further, the CAP is coordinating with the Lahore district authority from the start of the covid-19 pandemic and implementing all the orders and restrictions imposed by the provincial government as well as NCOC on the businesses.
Tariq Mehboob said that issuing such harsh orders which were even not supported by any legislation was not understandable. There is no legislation under which anyone unvaccinated person could be arrested, he mentioned. He added that the CAP was already vaccinated almost 100 percent of its staff besides asking the visitors to follow the SOPs in the malls and standalone stores.
