Case against the appointment of PTV Chairman Naeem Bukhari

Islamabad, 12th January: A case was heard against the appointment of PTV Chairman Naeem Bukhari.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, the court has ordered that the appointment of Naeem Bukhari is in violation of the decision of the Supreme Court in principle.

As per reports, the Islamabad High Court on January 14 has sought arguments from the Attorney General. The Islamabad High Court directed Naeem Bukhari to read the Supreme Court’s decision.

PTV’s newly appointed chairman Naeem Bukhari’s appointment is a violation of the decision of the Supreme Court, the court said.

The hearing was conducted by Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court Athar Minallah. Advocate Shakeel Abbasi appeared in the court on behalf of petitioner Arsalan Farrukh.

The Supreme Court has declared the appointment of the former chairman of state-run TV in November 2018 as illegal in 100 cases.

Naeem Bukhari has been appointed as Chairman PTV for 3 years and a notification has also been issued.

It has been reported that Naeem Bukhari will be a board member of Pakistan Television during this period, who will also be an independent director of the PTV board.

It is worth mentioning here that senior PTI leader Naeem Bukhari is a senior Supreme Court lawyer who had fought several cases against the Sharif family, including the Panama Papers case.

The competent officer of the Secretary Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has summoned the court for the next hearing.
