Lahore: Capital City Police Officer Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar visited various parts of the city, on Tuesday and reviewed the security as well as law and order situation.
Ghulam Mahmood Dogar also visited Minar e Pakistan premises to check the security arrangements being made by Lahore police to ensure the protection of the participants of ‘Khatam e Nabuwat Conference’. DIG Operations Capt(R) Suhail Chauhdary, SSP Operations Waqar Shoaib Qureshi, SP City Rizwan Tariq and other related police officers were present on this occasion. SSP Operations Waqar Shoaib Qureshi briefed the CCPO Lahore regarding the security arrangements made for the conference. SSP Operations informed that as many as 03 SDPOs, 12 SHOs, 45 upper subordinates and more than 500 FCs have been deployed for the security of the conference under the supervision of SP City division. Teams of different police stations, Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit(PRU) have been ensuring continuous and effective patrolling around the premises of conference and adjacent areas. Snipers have been deputed on roof tops to keep vigilant eye on all the movements of the vehicles and persons around, to ensure safety and security of the conference. Search and sweep operations have also been conducted on regular basis in the city particularly in specific areas to check and arrest criminals as well as anti peace elements prior to the conference, he added. Commander Lahore Police Ghulam Mahmood Dogar checked the deployment of officers and officials of Lahore police at arena of Conference at Minar e Pakistan as well as personnel of police stations, Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit and directed them to be highly alert, keep vigil on any possible suspects and ensure effective patrolling around the premises of the conference and adjacent areas. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar also directed Traffic Police to ensure comprehensive traffic plan for smooth flow of traffic during the conference. Capital City Police Officer Ghulam Mahmood Dogar also held a meeting to review the security plan for the cantonment board elections. He ordered a foolproof security for 121 polling stations in the Lahore Cantonment and 234 others in Walton Board. CCPO Lahore directed the implementation of the poll’s code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan that banned use of loudspeaker in the campaign processions. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said security officials should be deployed outside the polling stations and voters should undergo a thorough checking before entering there. He said the CCTV cameras should also be installed outside the polling stations for monitoring of the voting process.CCPO further said a three-tier security system should be put in place by installing metal detectors, walk through gates and barbed wires around the polling stations.
