Central Punjab One Victory Adrift from Access to Title
7th October 2020, Baaghi TV: By defeating Southern Punjab by 6 runs in an important game of the National T20 Cup ongoing at Qaddafi Stadium Lahore, Balochistan has further eased the path to the title for Central Punjab.
Central Punjab with its so far 6 points, has a more stable position on the table than all other teams. A victory against Northern in the final league match will enable Central Punjab to take the title. However, a defeat will bring matters down to the run-rate, in which department the edge is currently held by KPK.
The last and most important league match between Central Punjab and Northern will be held on Thursday, 8th October at Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Meanwhile in the two matches held at Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore, KPK and Balochistan won against their respective opponents. In the first match, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the help of an unassailable partnership of 117 runs between Muhammad Arif and Muhammad Mohsin, beat Northern by 8 wickets, and acquired the second position on the points table. This is the fourth straight defeat for Northern.
After being 33/2, KPK with the help of Muhammad Arif’s 65 and Muhammad Mohsin’s 63, overhauled the target of 150 with 16 balls to spare. Previously, KPK had won the toss and chosen to field first, after which Northern was all out on 149. Taimur Sultan, who scored a second half-century in the event, stood out in the innings. Sameen Gul got three wickets for 15 runs.
In the other match, Balochistan after sensational contest, defeated Southern Punjab by 6 runs. While chasing 125 runs, Southern Punjab closed its 20 allotted overs at 118/6. Anas Mustafa remained top scorer with 25 runs. Akhtar Shah and Gohar Faiz got two wickets each.
Previously, Balochistan, with the help of 35 runs by Abdul Wahid Bangalzai, scored 124/7. Muhammad Imran took 3 and Salman Ali Agha took two wickets.
