Peshawar: The police system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has really changed. Three policemen who tortured a child were handed over to police on physical remand.

According to reports, the Judicial Magistrate’s Court handed over the three officers arrested on the charge of stripping the youth naked at the police station. Those policeman are on a two-day physical remand.

The accused who tortured a young man named Raziullah, alias Amrey, inside the Tehkal police station in the provincial capital were produced before a judicial magistrate. Police requested remand of the accused from the court on which the court handed them over to the police on two days physical remand.

On the other hand, the Peshawar High Court took notice of the incident and summoned Inspector General (IG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sanaullah Abbasi.

In the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa court, Justice Qaiser Rashid addressed him and asked, “IG, what is going on? Which way is the police going?”

He remarked that the history of policing is full of sacrifices and on the other hand such incidents have shaken the foundations of POLICE Department. The video incident has shocked people.

Justice Qaseer Rashid further remarked that the entire department has become notorious because of black wolves. He further that that you have made ab normal people Station House Officers (SHOs) and he directed that mental balance should be tested before making SHOs.

Justice Qaiser Rashid also directed the IG KP to inquire into the incident but not to give a clean chit to his servants in the inquiry.

During the hearing, IG Dr Sanaullah Abbasi informed the court that the SHOs and personnel involved had been suspended and the SSP operation had a role in the incident and they were removed from their posts at night.

The IG KP assured the court that action would be taken against the culprits in accordance with the law. Sanaullah Abbasi termed the incident as unfortunate and said that timely action had been taken by the police.

Meanwhile, District Prosecutor Fazal Noorani formed a remote legal team to monitor the Tehkal incident, which will review the provisions of the case and other matters in accordance with the law.

It may be recalled that a video of a citizen being tortured by the Peshawar police by stripping him naked inside the police station and using obscene language with him went viral on social media.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had taken notice of the incident after which a case was registered against three officials including Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted at the police station.
