The Irrigation Department has reported an increase in the water coming from India into the Chenab River.
At Head Marala, the water flow has been recorded at 27,300 cusecs. Following this rise, the Irrigation Department has initiated the release of water from Head Marala.
Previously, the water flow at Head Marala had dropped below 4,000 cusecs, which led to a complete halt of water discharge and an empty riverbed at that point.
Consequently, the Irrigation Department said, the lack of water release from Marala had also reduced the water level at Head Khanki to 8,000 cusecs.
