31st August: India has said that the Chinese troops carried out a provocative military movement in fresh border row.
According to reports of Baaghi TV, on Monday, India claimed that it had foiled an attempt by Chinese troops to change the status quo on their disputed and ill-defined border in a fresh flare-up between the two nuclear-armed countries.

“On the night of August 29/30, 2020, PLA troops violated the previous consensus arrived at during military and diplomatic engagements during the ongoing standoff in Eastern Ladakh and carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo,” the Indian army said in a statement.
It said Indian soldiers foiled the Chinese bid to “unilaterally change facts on the ground”.
Beijing has not yet confirmed the news but said the Chinese border troops “have always strictly respected the Line of Actual Control and never crossed the line,” referring to the unofficial border.

Foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Monday at a regular press briefing, “Border troops from both sides have maintained communication over issues on the ground.”
However, the Indian army said the latest flare-up took place along the lake.
“Indian troops pre-empted this PLA activity on the southern bank of Pangong Tso Lake, undertook measures to strengthen our positions and thwart Chinese intentions to unilaterally change facts on the ground,” it said.
Ajai Shukla, an Indian writer for their defense and strategic affairs has expressed his concern over Sunday’s border violations by PLA in Pangong-Chushul. He took to his Twitter account and wrote:

Sunday's border violations by PLA in Pangong-Chushul sector are more serious than govt is admitting.
China is steadily pushing the Line of Actual Control westwards.
The Indian Army wants to stop "dialogue" and take action. But New Delhi is desperate for a negotiated solution.

Troops from both sides have been locked in a faceoff for months, in the western Himalayas where both the armies accuse each other of violating the Line of Actual Control, or the de facto border.
India and China have not been able to agree on their nearly 3,500 km (2,000 miles) border over which they went to war in 1962. The flare-up this summer is the most serious in over half a century.
