BEIJING: Following the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul, China has said it is ready to establish friendly and bilateral relations with Afghanistan.
China is also Afghanistan’s neighbor and the border between the two countries is 76 km (47 miles) long, while Beijing has tried to maintain non-governmental relations with the Taliban during the US withdrawal from Kabul.

“We welcome the Taliban’s desire. China respects the right of the Afghan people to determine their destiny freely. China wants to continue to promote friendly and cooperative cooperation with Afghanistan,” the spokesman said.
China has called on the Taliban to ensure a “peaceful transfer of power” and fulfill its promises to establish an “open and comprehensive Islamic government” and to ensure the safety of Afghans and foreigners.
Hua Chunying said that the Chinese embassy in Kabul is operational.
On the other hand, the Chinese embassy in Kabul has asked Chinese nationals living in Afghanistan to “keep an eye on the security situation” and stay indoors.
