Lahore, 15th July: In the latest development, China announces to assist Pakistan during the investigation of the incident where 9 Chinese and 3 Pakistanis were killed on way to the China-invested Dasu dam project
A statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that China would send a team to investigate the tragic incident that took place near Dasu Dam on Wednesday.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said in a regular briefing that China would like to cooperate with Pakistan in the investigation.
According to Pakistan’s investigation report so far, the explosion in the bus was due to a gas leak.
Senior Chinese diplomat Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and said that the explosion should be investigated if it is an act of terrorism. If there was an attack, Pakistan should immediately arrest the culprits and punish them severely.
Foreign Minister Wang said that the security measures of the Pak-China missions need to be strengthened to ensure their safe and smooth operation.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry had said that evidence of explosives had been found in the Dasu incident, adding that terrorism can not be ruled out.
In a message released on the social networking site Twitter, he said that the initial investigation into the Dasu incident had now confirmed the identification of explosives, adding that the terrorism aspect of the incident could not be ignored.
Fawad Chaudhry also informed that Prime Minister Imran Khan is personally monitoring all the developments regarding the incident. In this regard, the government is also in close touch with the Chinese embassy.
