Chinese had started building military camps in the depth areas to enhance their preparedness during a conflict with India.

“The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has developed over 20 of these military camps in their depth areas close to the LAC and are using these bases for helping in operations on the LAC,” top government sources told Aajtak and India Today.

The camps were built after the Doklam conflict with India and are equipped with military necessities and all kinds of supplies for troops deployed there, sources said. India and China have been engaged in a military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh since May of this year.

Both the Indian and Chinese armies are now occupying strategic heights close to the boundary between them.

The first such noticeable clash between Indian and Chinese troops was in Doklam in 2017 after India raised objections over the construction of a road by China on Bhutanese soil to get access to areas close to Indian areas in West Bengal.
