QUETTA, Feb 03 (APP): Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani Monday said that every year more than 8 million people die due to cancer worldwide while the menace was spreading fast globally as per the report of World Health Organization (WHO).
He said Chief Minister Mir Jam Kamal Khan would inaugurate first Cancer Hospital at Sheikh Zeyad Hospital here on Tuesday in order to overcome cancer disease and to ensure possible provision of medical aid to cancer patients in Balochistan which was prolonged demand of citizen and cancer patients, said a press release issued here.
Liaqat Shahwani said Balochistan government would be giving a great gift to people of the province on the occasion of World Cancer Awareness Day which is celebrated on February 4 every year across the world, saying WHO had expressed its concern that number of cancer patients worldwide could be increased from 10.4 million to 20.50 million till 2032.
He said Rs1. 60 billion have been allocated for the construction of the Cancer Hospital which would be a millstone for cancer patients in Balochistan and provincial government would ensure its completion timely.
Shahwani said Balochistan government headed by Mir Jam Kamal Khan was striving hard for the welfare of the masses, saying a long standing demand of public was being fulfilled by Chief Minister which would provide healthcare facilities to cancer patients in province.
He said the cancer hospital would be completed in two years time where all latest medical equipment would be ensured for the provision of quality treatment.
