COAS directs for immediate rescue operation for earthquake victims

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa directed on Monday, to take immediate action to rescue the victims of earthquake in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, reported DG ISPR.

DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor told through Twitter, that COAS directed to rescue the earthquake victims of AJK. He also added that army troops and medical teams already were dispatched.

A strong earthquake, measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale, Tuesday shook parts of northern Pakistan, killing at least nineteen, causing damage to buildings, rupturing roads and injuring several hundred people, according to initial reports.

The strong quake caused a breach in the Upper Jhelum Canal, inundating a number of villages along the Jatlan road, around 140 kms south of Islamabad, APP’s Correspondent from Mirpur, Azad Kashmir Altaf Rao reported.
