COAS visits NDU, discusses national security

According to the report of Baaghi TV, Naval Chief Amjad Khan Niazi has met Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

According to DG ISPR, Naval Chief Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi visited GHQ and met with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. Mutual interest and professional matters were discussed during the meeting. According to DG ISPR, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa congratulated Admiral Amjad Niazi on assuming command of the Pakistan Navy. Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that he hoped that Pakistan Navy would take new directions under the leadership of the new Naval Chief.

According to DG ISPR, during his visit to GHQ, the Naval Chief offered Fateha and laid a wreath at the memorial.

Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi took over as the new Chief of Naval Staff on October 7. A grand ceremony of change of command of the Chief of Naval Staff was held at Naval Headquarters PNS Zafar, which was attended by dignitaries including foreign ambassadors. The Pakistan Navy presented a Guard of Honor to the outgoing Chief Admiral, Zafar Mahmood Abbasi. Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi handed over the command of Pakistan Navy to Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi.

Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi has taken over as the 22nd Chief of the Pakistan Navy. Addressing the change of command ceremony, the outgoing Admiral, Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, congratulated the new Chief of Naval Staff, Amjad Niazi.

Admiral Zafar Abbasi said that special attention was paid to the professionalism of Pakistan Navy. Four Chinese frigate will join Pakistan Navy in next 2 years. PNS Yarmouk has become part of the Pakistan Navy, and the commissioning of PNS Hebat will take place later this year. Admiral Zafar Abbasi said that a naval base is being set up in Gwadar. Marine Training Center has been shifted from Karachi to Gwadar. We are always ready for national defense. Steps are being taken in the economic zone with the cooperation of China. Believing in Allah is part of our faith. Islamic teachings have been made compulsory in the Pakistan Navy.

The President of Pakistan had approved the appointment of Vice Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi as the new Chief of Naval Staff and promotion to the rank of Admiral.

Vice Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi took over the command of Pakistan Navy in place of Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi. Vice Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi was commissioned in the Operations Branch of the Pakistan Navy in 1985, and at the end of his initial training received an honorary sword from the Pakistan Naval Academy.

During his professional career, Vice Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi has held various command and staff positions. His command appointments include two Type-21 aircraft, PNS Badr and PNS Tariq, Commander of the 18th Destroyer Squadron, Commandant PNS Bahadur, Commandant Pakistan Navy War College / Commander Central Punjab, Commander Pakistan Fleet and Commander Karachi. His key staff appointments include the Principal Secretary to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Head of F-22P Mission China, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Training and Evaluation) and Director General of Naval Intelligence. He is currently serving as the Chief of Staff (Operations) at Naval Headquarters Islamabad.

Vice Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi is a graduate of Army Command and Staff College, Quetta and National Defense University, Islamabad. He holds a master’s degree in underwater acoustics from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in China. In recognition of his outstanding services, he has been awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-Basalat. Vice Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi has also been awarded the French Medal (Chevalier Knight) by the Government of France.
