COAS General Qamar Bajwa pays a one-day visit to Kabul
Lahore, 10th May: Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid a one-day official visit to Afghanistan, Kabul on Monday.
According to reports from DG ISPR, COAS met with HE President Ashraf Ghani of Afghanistan.
General Sir Nicholas Patrick Carter, Chief of Defense Staff of the United Kingdom was also present during the meeting.
Issues of mutual interest, current developments in the Afghan peace process, enhanced bilateral security and defense cooperation and the need for effective border management between the two brotherly countries were discussed.
The Chief of Army Staff reiterated his commitment that a peaceful Afghanistan means a peaceful region in general and a peaceful Pakistan in particular.
He said that we will always support the Afghan-led Afghan peace process based on the consensus of all stakeholders.
The Afghan President thanked the Chief of Army Staff for a meaningful discussion and Pakistan’s sincere and positive role in the Afghan peace process.
The Chief of Army Staff was accompanied by the Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed during the visit.
