Idaho: Eight people are believed to be dead when two airplanes collided over a scenic lake in northern Idaho, a state of the United States (US).
According to the details, two planes collided over Lake Coeur d’ Alene in Idaho carrying five passengers, including three children, and a pilot. Two victims, both deceased, were recovered from the air crafts before they sank, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Ryan Higgins said.
However, six passengers are still missing, but police said all were feared dead as both planes sank in the lake after the collision.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the collision or how many victims were on each plane, Higgins said. As per the details, one of the crashed planes was a float plane operated by Brooks Seaplanes of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and the other one was a Cessna 206.
A sheriff’s dive team located the wreckage in about 125 feet of water, and the bodies of three victims have been recovered so far, the sheriff’s office said. Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) headed to the scene and are investigating the collision, the sheriff’s office further said.
