Comedian Bharti Singh and husband granted bail
Mumbai, 23rd November: Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa have been granted bail after being arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau of India (NCB) in a drug-related case.
Baaghi TV: According to India TV, a special court in Mumbai has granted bail to comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa.
They were remanded in judicial custody till December 4 after being arrested by the NCB in a drug seizure and use case. After which their lawyer Ayaz Khalid had filed a bail application and today (November 23) the NDPS court granted bail to both of them.
38-year-old Bharti’s house was raided by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and drugs were recovered from her house, after which she was questioned, and later confessed to using drugs.
Haarsh Limbachiyaa, who is a screenwriter, producer and a television personality, told the NCB that he used to buy drugs only for personal use. He has been detained for questioning.
The anti-drug bureau on Saturday said a ‘small quantity of cannabis’ (86.5 grams) was found from their home in an apartment complex in Andheri. Later, they were taken to the agency’s Mumbai office for questioning. “Both Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa accepted consuming ganja,” the NCB said in a statement.
Earlier, the NCB, while investigating the drug case, raided the house of Indian actor Arjun Rampal and searched his house and also questioned his girlfriend.
The Narcotics Control Bureau last week summoned Indian actor Arjun Rampal to its Mumbai office for questioning, where he was questioned for seven hours.
Speaking to Indian media after coming out of the NCB office, Arjun Rampal had said, “It has nothing to do with drugs”. Some prescriptions for drug preparation were found at his residence which he had given to NCB and have been handed over to the officials.
Arjun Rampal had said that he was cooperating fully in the investigation while NCB officials were doing a good job.
Earlier, the NCB had also summoned film producer Feroz Nadiadwala, while a day earlier, police had arrested his wife Shabana Saeed after 10 grams of cannabis were recovered from her house and she was later released on bail.
