Corona wreaks catastrophe in India, over 200,000 cases recorded, no medicine and oxygen in hospitals
New Delhi: Corona virus continues to wreak havoc in India, a record of more than 200,000 cases confirmed in a day, with no oxygen or medicine available in hospitals.
According to reports, the COVID-19 situation is getting out of hand in India with infections having crossed 2 lakh in the last 24-hours. Indian media has confirmed that the virus is getting out of control leading to a severe shortage of medicines or oxygen supply in hospitals.
Latest figures released by the Ministry of Health shows, 200,739 cases recorded in a day with 1,038 deaths. Moreover, the virus has so far infected more than 14 million and killed more than 173,000 people in India.
Hospitals are running out of supplies and space to facilitate patients. According to reports, the state of Gujarat has a long line of ambulances due to lack of space in the hospitals. On the other hand, Indian doctors have written a letter to the Chief Minister of Gujarat to address the alarming situation. It is estimated that the death toll could increase significantly if the situation is not curtailed.
Meanwhile, the Indian government has decided to take loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the Asian Bank to sustain the economic system according to reports.
