Coronavirus: PIA granted permission for direct flights
Lahore (30th April, 2020): United States grants permission to Pakistan International Airlines for direct flights, confirm reports.
According to a Baaghi TV report, PIA has been allowed to fly to the United States. Pakistan’s national airline PIA was granted special flights to the United States during the Coronavirus Lockdown by the United States. Serial numbers 33781 and 33782 of PIA’s Boeing aircraft b777-240LR have been approved under the US license.

Permitted by the US Department of Transportation, the permit states that PIA flights will be allowed for passengers and cargo.
It should be noted, that PIA CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik had written a letter to the US Ambassador and the US State Department. It said that PIA should be allowed fly direct relief flights, to the United States.
PIA CEO Arshad Malik further said, in the letter that they want to bring back Pakistanis stranded in the United States due to coronavirus on charter flights. Flight operations have been suspended due to the coronavirus, however, special flights have to be operated, which requires the assistance of the US embassy.

The US Embassy should assist US agencies in resolving special issues. Now the United States has allowed special flights to Pakistan.
On the instructions of the Government of Pakistan, special PIA flights are being operated for the repatriation of Pakistanis stranded abroad.
On the instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, special measures have been taken for the repatriation of Pakistanis stranded abroad. The government of Pakistan and especially Prime Minister Imran Khan are personally monitoring the situation. In the current dire situation, it has been decided to provide full assistance to the troubled overseas Pakistanis.

PIA staff is playing a leading role in this difficult situation despite the threat of the deadly virus. With the efforts of Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan, special flights have been made possible for Pakistanis wishing to return home.
Pakistan launches its flights from 4th of April for the safe return of Pakistanis stranded abroad by the PIA. Islamabad was reportedly also opened to air traffic on a limited scale and PIA was restricted in terms of number of passengers.
