Coronavirus: PM Johnson orders to shut down pubs and restaurants

London, 20th March: UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has ordered to shut down all the pubs, restaurants and nightclubs amid the outbreak of the pandemic from Friday night. According to the reports, all the theatres, nightclubs, pubs, restaurants, cinemas, gyms, leisure centers have all been ordered to close down as soon as they possibly can in the UK. The restaurants will be used to taking away food only. According to the PM, the situation will be reviewed every month. The chancellor has said the government will pay 80% of wages for employees who are not working, up to £2,500 a month. Similar orders have been imposed in other countries as well including Spain, Ireland, and Italy, where all the pubs, bars and restaurants have been closed down. There have been 167 deaths in England from the coronavirus outbreak, as well as six in Scotland, three in Wales and one in Northern Ireland. Speaking at a daily Downing Street press briefing, Mr. Johnson said the measures would be enforced “strictly” and that licensing arrangements will be made.
