Coronavirus: Schools in Punjab closed till the 30th of May

LAHORE, 24th March: The Punjab government has announced to keep all private and public schools in the province closed till the 30th of May.

According to the information, the Punjab government has approved in the cabinet meeting to extend the holidays of all the schools by the 1st of June and then the summer vacations will start.

The cabinet also approved to provide insurance for doctors, para-medics staff in hospitals of Punjab and grant of one billion rupees to Balochistan.

Addressing a press conference after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Usman Bazdar said that in view of the situation, local elections have been postponed in the province.

COVID-19: 14 days lockdown in Punjab

The chief minister also suggested that the private schools should charge half the fees from the parents, as the children had not been attending schools since the beginning of March. However, the matter is under consideration.

Punjab has been under complete lockdown for 14 days since today morning, all the educational institutes, recreational parks, malls, and shops are closed till further notice.
