Three leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including former Punjab governor Omer Sarfaraz Cheema, Mehmoodur Rasheed, and Ejaz Chaudhry, had their judicial remand extended for 14 days in separate cases involving arson and vandalism.

Omer Sarfaraz Cheema’s judicial remand was prolonged for 14 days in connection with the Jinnah House attack and vandalism case. Due to illness, the ex-governor was brought to an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore in a wheelchair. The court was presented with a medical report by Jinnah Hospital Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Yahya Salman, who emphasized the need for proper medical facilities for Omer Sarfraz Cheema.

The police requested the extension of Omer Sarfraz Cheema’s judicial remand, stating that the challan (charge sheet) for the Jinnah House attack case was being prepared. The ATC Administrator Judge Abhar Gul Khan presided over the hearing. Case No. 96/23 had been registered against Omer Sarfraz Cheema and others at Sarwar Road police station.

Similarly, Mehmoodur Rasheed’s judicial remand was extended for 14 days in the case related to the arson at Shadman police station and the attack on police vehicles in Gulberg. The court instructed the PTI leader to appear again on August 7. Mehmoodur Rasheed, who had suffered a heart attack in jail, walked himself to the courtroom. His lawyer sought a report on his illness from the hospital to address rumors of his death. The court advised the lawyer to obtain a fresh report from the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) on the treatment.

Likewise, Ejaz Chaudhry’s judicial remand was extended for 14 days in the Jinnah House attack and vandalism case. He was ordered to reappear on August 7.

Meanwhile, PTI leader and former health minister Yasmin Rashid appeared before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore after completing her judicial remand in cases involving the setting on fire of a PML-N office, the Askari Tower attack, and the arson at Shadman police station.
