Court grants 14-day physical remand of Nawaz Sharif

Lahore: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has obtained a 14-day physical remand of the former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, on Friday.

Earlier this day, NAB investigation team took Nawaz Sharif into custody from Kot Lakhpat Jail and produced him to the accountability court. The court granted the NAB’s plea for remand of the former prime minister for questioning in the case.

Strict security measures were made and routes leading to the accountability court were closed ahead of the PML-N leader’s appearance.

The senior leadership of PML-N including Ahsan Iqbal and Maryam Aurangzeb reached the court for the case hearing and show solidarity with Nawaz Sharif.

Nawaz said that he fully supports JUI-F’s Azadi March while speaking to media outside the accountability court before his appearance.
