Lahore, 9th August: A district and sessions court in Karachi deferred indicted four suspects in the alleged suicide case of Karachi’s Dr. Maha Shah that took place in August 2020.

According to details, the prosecution on Monday requested the court to include sections of hiding evidence in the indictment of Dr. Maha’s alleged suicide case.

According to reports, initially, the police had said that the 24-year-old doctor had committed suicide by shooting herself in her DHA home. However, later on, police detained her friends, Junaid Khan, Waqas, Irfan Qureshi and others and booked them under relevant sections of the law.

While, the police arrested the accused under the charges of murder, rape and attempt to hide evidence, however, the accused have refused to confess the crime.

Meanwhile, the court has summoned witnesses and an investigation officer of the case on September 4.

It may be recalled that Dr. Maha Shah had committed suicide by shooting herself in the head in her residence on August 18 following a domestic dispute with her father.

It is noteworthy that the court had ordered to get the DNA tests of the accused in Dr. Maha Shah’s case. The prosecution told the court that the accused had still not given their DNA sample. And if they refuse to give their DNA sample, it is equal to concealing the facts.

Meanwhile, in an earlier hearing, the court directed the investigation officer to submit the challan of the case.
