COVID-19; most deaths in Punjab as cases rise across Pakistan

Latest figures released by the National Command & Operation Center (NCOC) show, that during the last 24-hours most deaths occurred in Punjab followed by Sindh. Out of 36 deaths during the last 24-hours, 35 died in-hospital, 1 died out of hospital. Meanwhile, 1,340 people tested positive for COVID-19.

According to reports, 533,202 people have recovered since the outbreak making it a significant count. Although, no patients are on ventilator in the AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan regions, 240 vents a re reportedly occupied across the country. Moreover, the percentage of ventilator occupation in Lahore is 36%, in Islamabad is 33%, in Multan is 25% and in Peshawar is 23%.

In addition to this, most oxygen beds occupied across Pakistan are in Gujrat at 61%, Peshawar at 34%, Lahore at 25% and Multan at 22%, respectively.

According to reports, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan are reported to be 24,081 as of 20 Feb. Meanwhile, 42,332 tests have been conducted. Provincial statistics show Sindh at 12,205, Punjab at 16,130, KP at 7,268, ICT at 5,142, Balochistan at 504, GB at 570, and AJK at 513 tests conducted on 20 Feb.

It is pertinent to note that a total of 569,846 cases have been detected since the outbreak last year, with provincial statistics showing AJK at 9,718, Balochistan at 18,972, GB at 4,951, ICT at 43,282, KP at 70,716, Punjab at 166,777, and Sindh at 255,430.

The death toll is reported to be 12,563 deaths in Pakistan. Sindh reported 4,276 (8 died in hospital and 1 died out of hospital on 19 Feb) deaths, Punjab confirmed 5,185 (19 died in hospital on 19 Feb) deaths, KP reported 2,027 (7 died in hospital on 19 Feb) deaths, ICT confirmed 488 (-) deaths, Balochistan reported 199 (-) deaths, GB confirmed 102 (-) deaths, and AJK reported 286 (1 died in of hospital on 19 Feb) deaths.

It is pertinent to note that 8,644,847 tests have been conducted since the outbreak. Meanwhile, 631 hospitals are providing covid-19 facilities to 2,050 patients admitted across the country.
