COVID-19: Sabir Shakir’s stance on closure of ARY office

Pakistani analyst, Sabir Shakir, makes significant revelations following claims of local television channel that its employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, eight employees of private TV channel ARY have been diagnosed with coronavirus following which the channel has made the announcement to close its office located in Capital territory, Islamabad.

ARY anchor Sabir Shakir has shared the details on social networking site Twitter, saying that three of the affected staff had gone to Faisal Edhi’s house for recording while three others had gone to a nearby mosque which has been sealed.

Sabir Shakir further said that most of the affected people are people working in the field. He added that the rest of the staff are in touch with the concerned officials for the test. Shakir said, “May Allah have mercy on them and have mercy on them all. Ameen.”

It is to be noted that Faisal Edhi, who is the head of Edhi Foundation, was diagnosed with coronavirus a few days prior. Faisal Edhi had reportedly also met with the Prime Minister, Imran Khan, after which PM Khan was also tested for COVID-19. The result was reported as negative.

ARY owner Salman Iqbal tweeted on social networking site Twitter that the office was closed after eight of its people from ARY Islamabad tested positive. He has stated that out of the twenty employees that were tested, eight had turned out positive.

The Islamabad office has been closed due to the spread of Corona and employees were instructed to stay at home.
