Quetta, 31st March: With the surging number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan, there is a sudden increase in the toll in the capital city of the Balochistan Province.
According to reports of Baaghi TV, the Health Directorate of the Balochistan Province has issued a letter to the General Secretary of the Balochistan Health Department showing concerns about the rapid spread of the virus in the city of Quetta.
It has been informed through the letter that the local spread of COVID-19 in Quetta has started and that the medical staff, who is at the frontline and dealing with the patients is at the maximum risk of exposure to the virus.
Due to the lack of protective gear and medical facilities, the para-medic staff could be the carrier of the virus for their families residing with them at the region. After the lockdown was imposed in the country the medical staff was not able to send their families away to their respective villages or hometowns, as a result of which they also come under the risk of being infected with the coronavirus.
According to the letter issued, it is being requested to allocate guest houses, hotels and flats for all those staff who cannot shift their families to their home towns. By shifting them to the safe and isolated places the further spread of the virus can be contained. We must save the families of all those who are fighting for the national cause.
The health department has mentioned some government and private facility areas in Quetta to be allocated for the families of the medical staff working for the coronavirus activities.
