Covid-19: Two cases of Omicron variant reported in India’s Karnataka district
India: Two positive cases of the new Coronavirus variant, Omicron, have been reported in India’s Karnataka district. The individuals have been quarantined.
The Omicron variant was first identified in South America and has since invaded many other countries including the UK, Netherlands and now India. In spite of the strict measures already taken by the Indian Government against the virus, two cases have appeared in the Karnataka District.
According to Lav Agarwal, joint secretary of the Union health ministry, two cases of Omicron variant have been reported in the country so far and both of these cases are from Karnataka. All primary contacts and secondary contacts of both the cases have been traced and are now being tested.
9765 new cases of Covid have already arisen in the last 24 hours in india, and with the two cases of the new strain, situation is becoming worse. India has faced 34,606,541 cases yet, with 469,724 deaths in total. Authorities are working towards tackling the current situation.
