COVID-19: Uninterrupted Communication channels amid the virus

Lahore, 20th March: Keeping in view the current situation of the outbreak of coronavirus in Pakistan, provincial and local governments are issuing a lockdown in many sectors.

According to the reports of Baaghi TV, a circular has been issued by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication stating that ICT/Telecommunication is as important as food and medicines so the internet and telecom facilities are made available for the public at all times so as not to create panic.

The ministry official in consultation with the stakeholders/telcos decided that the uninterrupted mobile and internet services have to be ensured to avoid any panic situation.

The majority of residents in big cities like Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Quetta, and Peshawar belong to rural areas as they have work commitments, so their families will get worried if the connection is not possible.

In addition to this, work from home is only possible if the internet services are live and roaring. It is instructed that all franchises, mobile load shops, and customer service centers and all support systems like radio towers, submarine cable BTS Tower have to remain open.

All these steps are taken in the wake of keeping all communication channels open to avoid any chaos and assuring proper communication.
