“Design is the silent ambassador of your brand”

Creativity, design, and art are some of the fundaments of creating a masterpiece. As technology is swiftly taking over, the need to design something that creates an impact and lasts is of the need of the hour.

On the 26th of July, a workshop, ‘Designing Infographics’, was organised by the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation. It was an interactive workshop, led by the Dean and Vice President, Hani Asfour. Throughout the workshop, we were part of several collaborative activities, such as designing an infographic for Giraffes going extinct, distorting a map to understand how designing influences perception, and my personal favourite, how Dr. John Snow helped identify and resolve the Cholera outbreak in London. All through the use of design! Quite interesting.

Moreover, light was shed upon the six principles of designing, as well as the Selection, Organisation, and Presentation (SOP) to understand what design is needed, the three types of readers in a hierarchy, and the importance of your hero image and typography.

Let me tell you about Sir Asfour’s presentation magic! He managed to pack 20 years of design wizardry into just 3 hours of mind-blowing interactive fun. It’s like he waved his design wand. This workshop was an epic journey through the ages of creativity!

This was one of the best workshops on creativity, design, and art because of the hands-on activities, and collaboration among volunteers. Workshops like these offer insights into hidden gems that leave a lasting impression. After all, design is the intermediary between information and understanding.
