5th February 2021, LONDON: In the Daily Mail case, The London High Court has observed that harsh remarks should not have been against Shehbaz Sharif.
According to the reports the lawyers of Shehbaz Sharif say that the court has acknowledged that the remarks issued in the Daily Mail conflict should not have been made. The lawyers are stressing on the fact that Justice Matthew Nicklin has declared that the remarks made constitute as defamation of Shehbaz Sharif. Justice Mathew Nicklin delivered the verdict after a preliminary hearing and said that the words written in the newspaper article were a source of contempt for Shahbaz Sharif.
Justice Niklin said that the article claimed that money laundering had taken place, that the victims included British taxpayers, that Shahbaz Sharif and Ali Imran benefited from corruption, that Shahbaz Sharif benefited from money laundering, and that Shahbaz Sharif was called the poster boy of UK DFID.
Justice Niklin said that he purposely did not read anything about the ongoing investigations against Shahbaz Sharif in Pakistan. The lawyers of Daily Mail said that the allegations of corruption and money laundering against Shahbaz Sharif were very limited and based on assumptions.
The London High Court also said that it is being said that Shahbaz Sharif lives in a palatial house in Lahore.
Secondly, it is also being claimed that the lawyers of the Daily Mail have admitted that there is no charge of money laundering against Shahbaz Sharif. The Daily Mail’s lawyers also quoted Accountability Advisor Shehzad Akbar as saying that an investigation into money laundering had begun.
According to Shehzad Akbar, the embezzled money from the funds was also taken out of the country. Who is behind the embezzlement? The investigation in Pakistan has reached the next stage. Our own information is limited.
As to what extent this claim is true, nothing can be said as yet because it is a one-sided claim. On the other hand, the Daily Mail has not yet confirmed or denied this.
