Dar orders an investigation into the ‘illegal and unjustified’ release of COAS Bajwa’s family tax records
Islamabad: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has taken note of the “illegal and unnecessary” disclosure of the tax information of the family members of Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
A statement from the Finance Division said, “This is an obvious infringement of the law’s provision for the complete secrecy of tax information.”
The infringement of tax law and breach of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) data will be investigated immediately, according to the statement.
Dar has instructed the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Revenue, Tariq Mehmood Pasha, to head the investigation personally, assign responsibility, and provide a report within 24 hours in light of this significant lapse by unidentified functionaries, the statement stated.
