DCFA announces to increase milk price to Rs170  per kg

Lahore: Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association (DCFA) has announced to increase milk price to Rs 170  per kg from March 1.

The DCFA Pakistan president Shakir Omar Gujjar Thursday said that  the production cost of milk at farmgate is Rs.177.70 per liter and Rs.197 per liter with profit of Rs.17.77.

He said that after including rent per liter, profit of wholesalers and retailers the cost will touch to Rs. 220 per liter.

The new milk prices will be announced on February 25 in collaboration with other stakeholders, he said adding that in the first phase, an increase of Rs 30 per liter will be undertaken.
The second increase will be made after the Ramadan according to time and circumstances, the DCFA Pakistan president highlighted.

The new price will be effective from March 1, which will be Rs 170 per liter, Gujjar said, adding that the prices will be gradually increased and by the end of this year, the price may go up to Rs 225 per liter
This increase could be significantly reduced if the Ministry of Commerce bans the export of essential commodities and withdraws 17% sales tax on inputs, he concluded.
