Thirteenth death anniversary of renowned intellectual, writer and compere Obaidullah Baig is being observed today (Sunday).
Born in Rampur in 1936, Obaidullah Baig’s real name was Habibullah Baig. He started his professional life in 1961 with Radio Pakistan.
In 1973, he became formally associated with Pakistan Television as a producer.
Obaidullah Baig hosted several programs on Pakistan Television, including Saylani Sahib, Paghdandi, Manzil, Mizan, Zauq Aghahi and Jawan Fikr, as well as Islamic Summit Conference and Election Transmission.
He was also the author of two novels, “Insan Zinda Hai” and “Rajput”.
The Government of Pakistan awarded Obaidullah Baig the Presidential Medal for Meritorious Service.
He died on this day in 2012 in Karachi.
