Death toll in Kerala rises to 185 due to rains, landslides
The death toll due to heavy rains and landslides in the Indian state of Kerala has increased to 185 while more than 100 have been injured.
Many houses have been hit by landslides and hundreds of people are feared to be trapped due to heavy rains in the Wayanad district of the state, while 225 people are still missing and the search is on.
According to Indian media, houses have been severely damaged and roads have been washed away while trees have been uprooted due to rain and landslides.
Some 120 people have been rescued and 195 people have been injured.
According to the administration, a public holiday was declared in 11 districts of the state today, due to rains and landslides and all educational institutions remained closed.
