Lahore Higher Education Commission decides to change curriculum for undergraduate degrees. It has been decided to change the syllabus of BS Honors in 143 universities across the country including Lahore.
There will be courses in Quantitative Reasoning and Expository Writing for BS Honors students.
The said courses will be taught as a compulsory subject for the students of BS Honors Arts, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences. New courses will be implemented in the first semester of BS Honors.
In BS Honors, students will also have the facility to get a degree by reading one or two minor subjects with double majors.
The HEC says the new undergraduate programs will make the transition from one degree to another possible. Students enrolled in the professional degree program will also be able to transfer to the general degree program.
Funding for the undergraduate curriculum has been provided by the World Bank under the Higher Education Development in Pakistan program. The Higher Education Commission has said that the curriculum adopted in the universities does not have the capacity for creativity, effective communication and problem solving.
It may be recalled that Pakistan joined the League of Influential Countries of the World by providing certification from Home Platform.
An agreement has been reached between the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and Microsoft, according to which the first 2000 students will be provided free certificates.
Microsoft and HEC have been working together for the past decade in a strategic partnership to promote the use of information technology in higher education. The partnership covers all public and private sector universities in the country.
Under this strategic partnership, a certification platform has been launched to provide students with a practiced curriculum roadmap. This includes productivity, computer science, data science, and IT infrastructure.
Certifications offered by MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate) and MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) provide certificates to those who wish to validate their skills and advance their careers.
