Delhi Police has registered a total of 38 FIRs in connection with the violence that erupted during the farmers’ Republic Day tractor rally. We have arrested 84 persons in connection with the probe, a senior official of the force said.
Notices have been issued to more than 13 farmer leaders and activists spearheading the agitation in connection with the January 26 violence. These include Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait, Swaraj India chief Yogendra Yadav and renowned activist s Medha Patkar.
Apart from violating the terms and conditions, the farmer leaders have also been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) corresponding to charges of attempt to murder, punishment for rioting and assault to deter public servant from discharge of duty.
