Departmental promotion of personnel a basic right:IG Punjab

Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab Lahore: Inam Ghani has said that departmental promotion of personnel according to merit and seniority is the basic right of every officer and official, therefore, the promotion structure of personnel posted at river check posts should be improved and promotion boards meeting should be held till September 15th.

Those who are waiting for promotion should be given their due and all the vacant seats should be filled through promotions.

He further said that regular meetings of promotion boards should be held and detailed reports on the progress of personnel should also be sent to the Central Police Office.

He further said that during the monsoon, the exercises of personnel at the river check posts, especially in sensitive areas, should be continued on a daily basis and the personnel deployed at the river check posts in the unpaved (Katcha) areas should not be sent on any other duty.

He further said that DIG PHP should make surprise visits to the river check posts of different regions and districts to review the working conditions and ensure that no official is posted at the river check posts who has not taken swimming course or who can’t swim.

He further said that in case of floods or high tides in the rivers, the personnel deployed at the river posts should also take active part in the relief activities so that there is no gap left in providing protection to the lives and property of the citizens.

He further said that monthly reports of patrolling boats, number of personnel and fuel records at river posts should be compiled. He expressed these views while giving instructions to the officers while presiding over a high-level meeting held at the Central Police Office here today.
During the meeting, DIG Establishment-II Maqsood-ul-Hassan briefed about the promotion structure while DIG PHP Dr. Abid Khan while briefing about the working of river check posts said that patrolling and monitoring duties as per SOPs issued by the staff assigned to river check posts is underway and staff is performing it’s duties with utmost diligence.
IG Punjab further said that the force deployed at the river check posts should not be deprived of all the required resources including high speed boats and in this regard the concerned DPOs should also conduct inspections on regular basis. Additional IG Welfare and Finance Muhammad Farooq Mazhar, Additional IGP PHP Muhammad Akram Naeem Bharoka, Additional IG Establishment Ali Amir Malik, DIG Establishment-II Maqsood-ul-Hassan, DIG PHP Dr. Abid Khan and other officers were also present in the meeting.
