Details of Kashmala Tariq’s Press Conference

Lahore, 2nd February: Federal Ombudsman Kashmala Tariq held a press conference on Tuesday to respond to allegations levelled against her family for running their vehicle into another car on Islamabad’s Srinagar Highway resulting in four casualties.

Baaghi TV: “It was not my son who drove the car,” said Kashmala Tariq during her press conference today.

Tariq said, “I am saddened and equally grieving the loss of precious lives in the incident, but if you look at the vehicles, you can tell how horrific the accident was.” She, however, added that in the CCTV it can be seen who was actually driving their car.

She said everything will be cleared once the CCTV footage of the accident comes forward. People need to see the video footage to see what actually happened there.

Former MNA clarified that both the parties were at fault and that the police must investigate the matter and hold accountable anyone who is found guilty.

It may be noted that a speeding car with the number plate, Prado WX-077 hit two other vehicles at G-11, Islamabad, leaving four dead and two severely injured in the middle of Monday night and fled from the scene.

Superintendent Police (SP) Sarfraz Virk told media that the owner of Best Western Hotel, Waqas Khan was also present in the car along with his wife Kashmala Tariq and son Azlan Khan that hit the people on the highway.

As per reports, Fayyaz, the driver of the SUV, reportedly belonging to Kashamla Tariq’s husband was taken into custody by police officials.

Police told media that Waqas received wounds on his face and was taken to a hospital. Police added that a search is underway to arrest him for investigation, whereas, the suspected vehicle has already been taken into custody.

Islamabad Traffic Police told media that CCTV footages are being collected to discover the details about the vehicles.

An eyewitness has reported that a young man was driving the speeding vehicle which belongs to the owner of Best Western Hotel.

However, Kashmala Tariq denies the allegations made on her son, who she said is being unjustly involved in the case.
