Serious differences between Director General (DG) Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Flt Lt (R) Khaqan Murtaza and the CAA Officers’ Association lead to letters written to the Prime Minister and President.

According to the reports, differences between the DG Civil Aviation and the CAA Officers’ Association over the division of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority into two new bodies and notification have intensified.

The Secretary General of CAA Officers Association, Zarin Gul Durrani, has written a letter to the President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Minister of Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan and the Cabinet Division.

The letter said that the notification issued by DG CAA Khaqan Murtaza on September 10 regarding the division of CAA and establishment of Pakistan Airports Authority is illegal. It is the job of the federal government to issue notifications regarding the creation of authorities.

The letter further said that the Civil Aviation Authority as a regulator is a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other international bodies related to civil aviation, adding that such controversial measures could lead to new restrictions and difficulties for Pakistan Aviation.

The CAA Officers’ Association demanded in a letter that the Director General CAA be ordered to withdraw the illegal and controversial notification.
