Does your eight-year-old daughter have sex? A Bizarre Question was asked from parents of young girls studying in government schools in Punjab via a Medical well-being form.
Baaghi TV: According to Baaghi TV’s reports, a performa is being circulated in the government schools of Punjab regarding the health of the students in which various things have been asked and it has been said that this performa should be filled by a doctor and submitted to the school. It’s submission was rendered mandatory as the students were threatened that they may be expelled from the school if this form is not handed over and action may be taken against the teacher if the form is not submitted by the students.
The form has been distributed by the Punjab government in government schools of Lahore. The form is open to all students of Government Girls Milli Darul Atifal High School in Rajgarh area of Lahore who are between five and 15 years of age. It was asked to be filled and submitted and the teachers were forced to submit this form in any case.
This performance, which has been named General Health Profile for Public School Students / Teachers, has been given to school heads by the District Education Authority, Lahore. The form has been divided into different parts. In Part A, the bio data of the student or teacher is asked while in Part B of this form questions are asked about the important aspects of the basic health of any student or teacher. In Part C the complete physical health of the student is asked while in Part D the mental and psychological condition of any teacher and student is asked to be assessed.
Part 2 of this form asks about full mental abilities, where column 6 asks if there has ever been a mistake in stealing or if it has become a habit to come to school late. In the same column it is written that Whether the student is/was involved in any sexual activity or not.
Whether a five to ten year old girl be sexually active is a separate discussion but the question here is why such a form was created in the first place where parents were asked such a disturbing question which raised mental anguish within the parents. Another question arises here is that could the form be generated because the students were being attracted towards such activities at school or after school?
Baaghi TV contacted the principal of the school on this issue. The principal of the school Dr. Shaukat Hayat said that we have received instructions from the education department that the health department has asked us to fill up this form. Make sure that the children do not have any such disease so that the teacher may not have any difficulty in interacting and a plan can be established accordingly.
Principal Dr. Shaukat Hayat in an interview with Baaghi TV, revealed that the same performa has been circulated at college and university level and the same has been given in primary and high schools. She mentioned that the forms were not to be filled by the girls themselves (however the students were not told not to fill it but were instructed to fill the complete form and the said forms have already been submitted to the schools), the principal added that we had a strict order to get it filled.
Later, Baaghi TV contacted Secretary School Punjab. Secretary School Punjab Pervez Akhtar confirmed that these words were written in the form sent to government educational institutions and indeed the students were asked about “sexual activities”. Secretary School Punjab admitted his mistake and said that he had seen the form but could not read it and was sent to the schools in the same condition.
Pervez Akhtar said that this is really a big mistake which cannot be ignored. In an Islamic country like Pakistan, there is no room for such questions and he will inquire about those who finalized the form. (Although of course the final check was to be done by Pervez Akhtar)
Secretary Schools Pervez Akhtar Khan while talking to Baaghi TV said that he has ordered to withdraw this form from the schools immediately (it was a verbal order over phone, when Baaghi TV asked the principal of the concerned school about it she expressed ignorance regarding the command of returning the form).
Pervez Akhtar also revealed that the matter is in fact something like it was designed by the health department and forwarded to us by the health department, our concerned people sent it to the schools without looking at it carefully, though I am saddened by the cheapness and negligence of the health department that they completed the column by copying and pasting but did not see what else was pasted alongside.
When Baaghi TV contacted Liaquat Baloch, the central leader of Jamaat-e-Islami K, stating that the Punjab government’s health and education department asked such questions from minor students , Liaquat Baloch reacted strongly and said that it was very sad to hear about this incident. On one hand, there are claims of a uniform education system in the country and on the other hand, sex education and misbehavior are being promoted. Prime Minister Imran Khan should take notice of such incidents which are trying to promote Western culture in this country. On one hand, they claim it to be the state of Madina while on the other hand, the global pressure on women’s march and the promotion of sex and misbehavior in the education system is being promoted. The Prime Minister must clarify his position in this stead.
