Dr Maha suicide case: Investigators decide to exhume the remains
KARACHI: Investigation team has decided to exhume the body of Dr Maha Ali, who allegedly committed suicide in Defense, for postmortem.
According to SSP Investigation South Bashir Ahmed Brohi, it has been decided to exhume and postmortem the body of Dr Maha Ali who committed suicide in Defense area of Karachi to clear the ambiguity and contradiction of shooting.
According to media reports, Jinnah Hospital MLO Dr Hassan Ahmed had released the medical report of Maha Ali’s death without conducting an autopsy which stated that she was shot with the right hand. Police said that the post-mortem of the deceased would clear the matter legally and the post-mortem of Maha would produce a proper medical report.
Police will write to the court for exhumation and postmortem. Maha Ali Shah’s father filed a case against those who forced him to commit suicide.
Significant progress has been made in the case of Maha who committed suicide in Defense area of Karachi. As soon as the case was registered, another accused was arrested, after which the number of arrested people has increased to three.
The third accused arrested is dentist Dr Irfan Qureshi. Police say the accused dentist Irfan Qureshi has a clinic near South City Hospital. The family has alleged that Irfan Qureshi also acted immorally with Maha after consuming drugs.
The text of the case states that Maha’s friend Junaid Khan used to feed him drugs and Waqas Hassan Rizvi and Dr Irfan Qureshi used to blackmail him when he told him about the problem. Dr. Irfan also took advantage of the compulsion by feeding drugs to Maha.
It is clear that Maha’s family has accused Maha’s friend doctors of abuse. Maha had told her sister that she was being abused by being addicted to cocaine. According to Maha’s sister, besides her friend Junaid, Dr Irfan also raped her. Police say action could be taken against those responsible for Maha’s suicide.
