Lahore, 20th May: Deputy Superintendant Police (DSP) Rawalpindi Sohail Mumtaz lost his life battling coronavirus. 

According to reports, DSP Sohail Mumtaz passed away on Thursday combating against COVID-19 pandemic.

Shaheed DSP was undergoing treatment at the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology after contracting the virus.

As per reports from the police department, Mumtaz was performing his duties as SDPO in the Kotli Satyan area when he fell ill and tested positive for coronavirus.

Funeral prayers of martyred DSP will be offered according to SOPs, police said.

CPO Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahsan Younis said that we share in the grief of the family of the martyred DSP and stand by them in this hour of grief.

He added that DSP Sohail Mumtaz was a very hardworking, sociable, and compassionate person.

Rawalpindi police will continue to play a role on the front line in the fight against COVID-19, but officers and personnel must ensure the implementation of face masks, gloves, sanitizers and other security measures, CPO Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahsan Younis said.
